Film for print estimating is a relatively straightforward calculation. Firstly this is only involved with offset presses. If CTP (computer to plate) is used, no film is required.

If you are using a digital printer, or CTP (computer to plate) this calculation is not applicable. The image film cost is dependent on the size of the film and the quality. Another two factors are the no. plates and the no. of originals.

Film Cost = Image film cost x No. of Plates x No. of Originals
